UIDAI lets holders of Aadhaar cardsto change their address without the need for documents. Aadhaar cardholders could alter their address even if they had not presented evidence of their identity.
New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India has temporarily suspended a vital service that lets you change your Aadhaar card's address, without proof of address.
UIDAI permits holders of Aadhaar cards to change their address without requiring any documentation. Aadhaar card holders are able to update their address once they accept the authenticity to the identity verifier. An address verifier could be a relative, friend landlord, family member or even a friend that allows the Aadhaar card user to use their address as proof.
UIDAI has stopped using this facility. UIDAI replied to an Aadhaar Card Holder by tweeting that the ability to update address on the Aadhaar Card through an Address Validation Letter was canceled. UIDAI has requested that the Aadhaar provider to alert the user of the possibility to update their address with another valid PoA document.
Dear Residents Attention: The Service for Address Validation Letter service has been suspended until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list https://t.co/BeqUA0pkqL
